Rest in peace, Easton Roy

Bannockburn Rugby Club are deeply saddened by the passing of Stirling County legend Easton Roy, who died 10 July 2020.

One of the Stirling area’s most recognisable rugby characters, Easton was respected and held in high regard by Bannockburn’s players, coaches and members past and present.

Club President Iain McEwan led Bannockburn’s tributes:

“It’s heartbreaking. Easton Roy was a true legend of the Scottish game and will be missed, but never forgotten.

“On behalf of Bannockburn Rugby Club, I would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Easton’s family and all at Stirling County.”

Easton Roy played against Bannockburn Rugby Club in 2018.

‘World’s oldest player’

Playing rugby well into his 90s, Easton earned global acclaim as the ‘world’s oldest rugby player’. His exploits were documented on media outlets such as CNN in 2018.
