Bannockburn Rugby Club are set to launch a seconds team following a continued increase in members.
Players new, old and everyone in between are invited to be part of the Beavers, which will operate as a social team.
The Beavers name first came about in the 1990s as a nickname for the Burn First XV, named after the animal known for its natural engineering ability. Beavers were recently reintroduced to Scotland for the first time in 400 years.
While the Beavers are planning to operate as a social side, training and social games are already in the diary. The Beavers’ first test is an open training match against the First XV on 26 September 2020.
The Beavers team provides a platform for old and new players to enjoy the sport. The seconds team will also be part of the rugby pathway for Bannockburn’s junior players.
Director of Rugby Jimmy Samuel said:
“Participation is a big thing for our club, and it’s great to see more numbers down at training.
“We’re keen to see new faces down the club and turning out for The Beavers – the dads, the veterans, the new-to-the-game, the old heads.
“If you want a gentle introduction to rugby, this is your chance.”
